I need your creative input!

Hey, my book is making me mental. You would not believe how many decisions you have to make when you self-publish. I've never built a house, but I imagine it's very similar--so many details. And there've been a million lessons learned.

Do me a favor and take a look at the two cover designs on the left sidebar and then cast your vote. I'd love to get your opinions.

Thanks!

It is amazing how really busy people manage to squeeze in another project in their busy day.

I like the second one (red cover). It has a sense of poignancy about it - something to do with the child like colouring in of the heart.

I vote the black cover... It would jump out at you when displayed on a table or shelf in a store.

Black is much more slimming.

I gotta say I picked black but by the slimmest of margins. I think you'd be happy with either one. Everything Linda said earlier in the comments is totally true as is Blue Ridge Gal's comment. Let the survey speak :-)

Lurker here for some time upon recommendation of Mikey to check out your blog some time ago. I really enjoy it by the way. Love to read but dont get many opportunities. That being said, I tend to pick books for purchase or at library by the cover. Yes, its technical, but Im married with kids and a job, so if I even get to pick a book, I have limited time. Anyway, I prefer to red cover personally. The black cover along with the title, gives me the "this is a "dark" book and depressing and a man bash fest" which Im thinking (based on your fabulous blog entries) that definately contains a humorous aspect. I would likely not pick up the black cover book, but would the red. I intend to purchase your book once its available, then I will donate it to my local library for others to enjoy as I have a feeling its a good one! :)

Hoopswife, you have a good point about the black cover giving the impression that it's a "dark" book. And it's certainly not a "man bash fest"! (You know I love men!)

Thanks for being a faithful reader and for commenting--now, don't be shy next time!

Not that there isn't a market for a man bashing book. But I generally read only on vacations so Im looking for something funny and not hard to follow and not depressing (since generally beach reading involves corona(s)) :)
Thank you for responding to my comment! I feel famous today!

Eeek! How exciting!

Do we have a date yet, Linda? You've got to keep us updated on everything.

I've got to go study the covers now... I can't decide!

Hi there
I'm another one who doesn't have a lot of time when I run into the book store and end up picking up books based on the covers that catch my eye. I have to vote with the red cover!

I'm torn. When I first looked I immediately loved the black one, it jumped off the page at me.

Then at second look, I started thinking the black one seems very harsh, whereas the red (?) lends more to the humorous content of the book.

As someone who has actually read the manuscript and LOVES IT AND CANNOT WAIT FOR MY AUTOGRAPHED COPY, I think the red is more appropriate, even though the black is more striking.

I voted for RED...it is my favorite color...I have books with black covers but they just don't pop out like a red one does!! I cannot wait to buy this and read it as soon as it comes out!!

Red DEFINATELY. I think in this instance you can judge a book by it's cover and you need something eye catching. Red conjours up images of love but for me, the scribbled out hard contrasts it wonderfully and I "get it" straight from the cover. You want your book to stand out and sell - definately RED
