Try this today

Tired of paying astronomical cable prices?  I don't know about you, but I think charging an additional $7.99 for the HD cable box is bullshit.  Call your cable company TODAY and say, "Look, I'm happy with your service, but your competitors are offering some sweet deals.  I'd like to stay with you, but I'm ready to jump ship.  What can you do to convince me to stay?"

Mike did just that yesterday and now we have free HBO for the next three months.  And guess what?  In three months, he'll be calling them again.

Try it and see what happens.  Let me know!

Yeah - my bill just went up because my "introductory trial period of doom" is now over and they feel that they can start stealing more money out of my pocket because I'm hooked or whatever - So my phone call is coming quick.

Also, by the end of the year I'll be switching back to Direct TV which was cheaper and gave me more channels and allowed me to watch MORE football!!!!

Oh, I did that already many times over the years. This time, my cable company jacked my rates to $180 a months for my cable and internet service (seriously!) and the best they could do was drop it $10. I was like "Really, after being a loyal customer for 7 years that's the best you can do?" And so I switched to AT&T Uverse, and I am now paying $120 for the same stuff PLUS more premium channels. When I called Time Warner to disconnect my service, then they were suddenly coming up with better promotions to get me to stay and I was like "Too bad, the new service is already installed. Next time take better care of your customers."

@ Grrouchie: Fuck them! Make that call TODAY!

@ Tara: Mike is an incredible negotiator! It's such a turn-on to see him in action. Except when he's at a garage sale buying more shit we don't need to clutter up our garage.

@ Julie: Yep, I know YOU'VE been on the horn--ha! You don't take no shit! I'm gonna have to look into this AT&T Uverse.

Danny does that all the time. I hate the cable companies by I am a TV-holic.

Why can't I do this with the bigger utilities like gas and electricity. Those are the companies that really bend you over and screw you hard with no lube. I think I'm going to call them tomorrow and threaten to turn amish. Oh wait nevermind I'm not cut out for all that manual work like cooking, cleaning and getting up at the crack of dawn. And don't get me started on the attire. Damn *pulls pants down and bends over*

AT&T is more expensive than regular cable. I have already looked into all of them. But I am going to have to try what Mike has done and see if that will work for us.

The pictures of you I think you look really nice in them. I am glad you had a good time.

I love my TV, too, Debbie.

Jen, wouldn't it be great to call the gas company and say, "Hey, I'm thinking of jumping ship. What can you do for me?"

THB, definitely give them a call. It's worth a try!

Linda Lou, I SWEAR when I initially read this on little sleep, I had previously read the LV Review-Journal's online article about Vegas cabbies long-hauling people... My initial thought was, "WHO uses cabs enough that they're going to call their company and threaten to switch?..." Great comment - good for you Julie, threatening to turn Amish - Mike is an incredible negotiator, except at garage sales - outstanding... :)

Ha! Thirty bucks for a ride from the airport? I demand a lower rate or I'll call your competitors!
