Life isn’t fair and neither is death

My twin separated at birth and blogging buddy Julie over at 47 and Starting Over took some heat this week for her take on all the hoopla over Michael Jackson’s death. For the record, I’m with her 100 percent, but I’m so friggin’ sick of it all that the last thing I want to do is write about it myself. I added a comment to her post; that’s all I’ll say.

Okay, just let me say one last thing: if I were Farrah, I’d be pissed. She was dead, what, three hours before the news broke about MJ?

I picture her up in heaven, wearing a cute little angel outfit… her gorgeous hair is back and she’s flashing that famous smile… Heath Ledger and Princess Di and JFK, Jr. and my Beautiful Aunt Joyce are there to welcome her with a bottle of champagne and they’re all chatting it up over how great Larry King will be tonight since his whole show will be devoted to the lovely Farrah.

“Larry’s next,” one of them says and they all giggle and clink glasses. Heaven is awesome!

And then who shows up at the pearly gates but Michael friggin’ Jackson. I’m telling you, if I were Farrah, I would have marched my (now cancer-free) ass over to St. Peter and I'd be in. his. face. With teeth clenched, I’d be like, “No f*cking way--you send him back right this instant! Is it too much to ask for one goddamn day to myself of post-mortem glory? Huh? Get me Jesus. I demand to talk to Jesus!”

Yeah, if I were Farrah, I’d be pissed as hell--where, by the way, MJ should be IF those charges against him were, in fact, true. But we really don't know, do we? None of us knows for sure.

Farrah never ever gave up in fighting her courageous battle with cancer. A lesson for us all regarding the triumph of the will when one is faced with the fragility of life.

Michael Jackson had everything going for him, and decided to piss away his health & eventually his life by becoming just another addict. Boo hoo hoo..yet another statistic. Can't blame his addiction on anyone else because the responsibility lies solely with Michael. So he died because???

A world of difference between these two celebrities, and how they respect or disrespect life.

Linda, You're in your element, gf!!! Love this post! Farrah was a true angel and even though I loved MJ's music big-time, enough is enough already. "Get me Jesus. I demand to talk to Jesus!" That's fricking hilarious. (And this is coming from a nice, Jewish girl from Long Island.);-)

See, this is why I love you. We are truly on the same wavelength. Poor Farrah got lost in all the craziness and yet she's just as dead as MJ, and frankly was just was much of an icon for the 70's as he was for the 80's.

Her death made my eyes well up with tears. His made them roll back into my head.

I so agree Linda! The only thing good that might have come out of it was MAYBE Farrah's family got a little more (needed) privacy than they would have because all of the attention was on MJ. I hope it was good for Farrah's family anyway!

I felt the same way too. I posted on Michael 24/7. You know what the coverage was for Anna Nichol Smith... I can only imagine what we are in for this summer!

I am so fucking pissed that Michael Jackson died because now I see his scary ass-face or whatever the hell it is, EV-A-REE where. I've been having nightmares for nights and I'm afraid to go upstairs by myself because Michael Jackson might be up there. Maybe he's under my bed. With the Ethiopians.

Laura, I'm totally with you on this. I can't bear to erase "Farrah's Story," the documentary that recently aired, from my DVR. She was so sweet and fought her illness with bravery and integrity.

My Moon makes a good point--maybe Farrah's family was able to mourn in peace with all the media attention on MJ.

Courtney! I totally forgot that when you were little, you were afraid of Ethiopians under your bed. You must have flashbacks every time you hear "We Are the World."

The way I heard that it happened like this.
Farrah got to the pearly gates and was met by St. Peter who said. "Farrah, you were such a saint on earth that you get granted one wish" to that Farrah said " I wish for all the little children in the world to be safe"

3 hours later..............MJ died

I too find it disturbing that the media focused all of its attention on the death of Michael Jackson.

There was hardly any coverage on Farrah the entire day of their deaths. And for the past two weeks straight (yes, it's already been two weeks!) all you see is Michael Jackson this and Michael Jackson that. GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!

If the media spent half its time talking about TRUE heroes' deaths (the men and women serving in our military protecting our freedom) instead of Michael Jackson's death then maybe our country wouldn't be in the shithole that we're in right now.

Grrr.. sorry, I just get really annoyed about it. Great post, girl!

OMG!!! I said the same thing that very day! I kept telling everyone how bad I felt for Farrah! He robbed her of what should have been a celebration of a courageous and beautiful woman. Instead she became an afterthought. MJ HAS PASSED AWAY, BLAH BLAH...oh and by the way Farrah died too. It's awful! But in a way, maybe it's a blessing. Her family was able to mourn her quietly and lay her to rest without a whole media circus. Maybe that's how she would have wanted it.

The media coverage has been bizarre. I was on vacation last week and saw only about 5 minutes of "news" -- it was Katie Couric, live from the Staples Center. WTF.
